STI’s The Basics
STI's that can be passed on during vaginal, anal, or oral sex. STI's can also be passed from a pregnant woman to her baby before or during the baby’s birth. They can also be passed from IV drug use and needle sharing.
How can I know if I have an STI?
Getting tested! It is the only way to know for sure. Most people who have an STI don’t have any symptoms. If you hear a partner of yours might have had an STI, get tested.
Can chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis be cured?
Yes. These STDs can be cured with medicine if they are treated early. If these STDs aren’t treated, they can cause serious health problems, like making it dangerous or impossible for women to get pregnant.
Can HIV and herpes be cured?
No. There is not yet any medicine to cure these STI's, but there are treatments to help improve health and calm symptoms.
